Wow, I mean who ever didn’t see this coming probably missed the boat on a lot of things in life, but this is just amazing. Today Activision has announced that the Treyarch developed Call of Duty: Black Ops II has grossed $1 Billion dollars in 15 DAYS! That is just astounding!

With the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II most people are brushing up on their Call of Duty skills, so some good news from Activision is in order. They’ve announced today that they are extending Call of Duty Elite Premium features through March 1, 2013 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

Activision Releases Details On Content Drop #4, #5 and #6 For Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3

Not to be outdone by EA and Battlefield 3, this morning Activision has released details on Content Drops #4, #5, #6 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. These Content Drops feature one new multiplayer map and are the first to feature a Special Ops map instead of a multiplayer map.

Call of Duty Elite Clan Ops Are Live!

Not only do Elite Premium users get access to Content Drop #3 (Overwatch) today, but Activision also decided to go live with one of the most sought after features on Call of Duty, Clans! That’s right for Call of Duty Elite members on Xbox 360 and PS3 Clan Operations are now live. This is something that I’ve been looking forward to personally and it’s something that I wish Xbox Live would institute system wide but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards so we’ll have to settle for game specific clans.
Hopefully the Clan functionality is going to add a lot to the game and a new element to multi-player especially with challenges.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Drop #3 Landing February 21

Ah yes hot on the heals of Content Drops #1 & #2 which saw two new maps for Modern Warfare 3, Activision has announced that the 3rd Content Drop is going to arrive on February 21st. Like the first two Content Drops #3 is a map, Overwatch.
Overwatch is set on top of a New York City skyscraper. The battle take place along two levels in a near symmetrical layout, with the central bridge and side routes open to attack from multiple angles. A nice touch is there are no safety barriers surrounding the perimeter so you can fall 70 stories to the ground below!
Overwatch will land first for Xbox 360 Elite Premium members and then trickle out to other systems and subscriber levels.
Activision also let known that Drops 4-6 will land in March (according to their calendar) and include a new map “Black Box” and two new Special Ops Missions “Black Ice” and “Negotiator”
I’ve been impressed with the first two Content Drops (Piazza and Liberation) so I’m looking forward to see more roll-out. Having multiple development teams on the content calendar is starting to pan out for Activision and hopefully they’ll churn out not just quantity but quality as well.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Content Drop Coming To Playstation 3 members 2/28

Activision let us know today that PS3 Elite Premium members wont have to wait that much longer for their first set of Content Drops. February 28th is the day that the two newest maps Liberation and Piazza will be downloadable for Elite Premium members on PS3.
Liberation is a militarized Central Park in NYC. It features open landscapes which are great for sniper and LMG kills. There are also mounted turrets on opposite ends of the map for fortifying bases.
Piazza is set in an Italian village, there are lots of quick corners, multiple stairwells and overlook points, along with pathways networked together through out the map.
Xbox 360 Elite Premium members have had access to the maps for two weeks now and let me tell you they’re great, I’m personally a fan of Piazza, even though I tend to be more inclined to be a sniper, I just really enjoy the map and the way that it is constructed and designed.

How To Download New MW3 Maps

We’ve received a few e-mails regarding people having a hard time figuring out how to download the latest Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer maps, so we decided to pull the quick tutorial from Activision themselves. Due to the nature of the Elite pack and the ability for Elite premium subscribers to access content the downloading works a bit different from your traditional Xbox Live Marketplace download. You actually don’t go into the marketplace at all.

PSA Call of Duty MW3 First Content Drop Tomorrow 1/24

Just a quick friendly reminder that tomorrow 1/24 will be the first “Content Drop” for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. This “Content Drop” contains two maps, Liberation and Piazza, the former being a large-scale map good for sniping, while the later is a close quarters environment. The content is coming to Elite Premium members on Xbox Live first and then will go out to other players after that.
While we have been told that paid “Elite” subscribers will get early access to content, no official details have been given regarding what that means and what the release schedule will be for Paid Elite vs. everyone else. But we don’t have to wait much longer since tomorrow will be the first “Content Drop” for the fastest selling video game of all time.
