LG Shows Off Two New Phones and a Phoneblet

LG couldn’t contain itself before MWC 2012 pre-announcing many of its newest devices earlier in the week. Now that MWC is underway, LG has unveiled three of those devices to the public.

The Optimus 4X HD (pictured above) is LG first quad-core phone. It has a 1.5GHz NVIDA Tegra 3 chip, a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 IPS HD screen, an 8MP rear camera and 1.3 front-facing camera, 16GB of internal memory, and runs Android 4.0.

The Optimus 3D Max (pictured below) will the successor to the Optimus 3D. It will have a 3D a 4.3 inch screen with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2, an 1.2 GHz OMAP dual-core processor, 8GB of internal storage, and dual 5MP cameras. Unfortunately, the phone will run Gingerbread.

The Optimus Vu (pictured below) will be LG’s competitor to the Galaxy Note. Even though it will also be 5-inches, the Vu is shaped more like a tablet offering a 4:3 aspect ratio.  It will have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 32GB of storage, and an 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera. It will run Gingerbread out of the box but LG says an update to ICS “is already in the works”.

LG Spectrum

Yesterday at CES 2012, LG and Verizon announced the Spectrum by LG. It has a 4.5 inch “True HD” IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor, 8MP camera with 1080p video capture, 1.3MP front facing camera, and a 16GB microSD card pre-installed with support for up to a 32GB card. The phone will run Gingerbread but will be upgraded to ICS in “the first half of 2012”. LG states the display uses the same technology found in their premier HD TVs and will have exclusive access to HD (720p) content from the ESPN ScoreCenter app.

LG Spectrum Leaked

Getting tired of all those Galaxy Nexus rumors? Well let’s switch it up and give you a LG rumor. Pocketnow has a leaked image of the LG Spectrum. So far the only known specs are that it will run Gingerbread, have a 720p HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and that it will run on Verizon’s LTE network. Do the picture and specs sound familiar? Well they should because the Spectrum is very similar to the LG Nitro HD available on AT&T, which makes it the second American variant of the LG Optimus LTE. Add it to the Galaxy Nexus, Moto RAZR, HTC Rezound, and Moto Droid 4 (rumored) and Verizon will have an incredible line-up of LTE smart phones. Now only if we could release dates for all these rumored devices.

AT&T LG Nitro HD Available December 4th

AT&T announced the LG Nitro HD, its third LTE phone but first with a 720p display. It will be a 4.5 inch IPS screen with a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 8-MP camera, 4GB of built in storage – a 16GB mircoSD card will be included in the box – and, in all likelihood, will run Gingerbread. It will run on AT&T’s nascent but growing 4G LTE network. Right now, the network is live in 15 markets so you should check if it is available in your area. However, if you are fan the LG Optimus line of phones, the Nitro should be able to run on HSPA+ while you wait for the LTE switch to be turned on in your neighborhood. It will be available on December 4th for $249.99 with a two-year contract.
