HTC And Sprint Hosting Event On April 4th, One X Unveiling Approaching?

HTC And Sprint Hosting Event On April 4th, One X Unveiling Approaching?

HTC and Sprint are getting together once again for a special event on April 4th. At this point there’s no real hard evidence on what they’re planning on talking about but the popular thinking is that it will be the announcement of the HTC One X. The HTC One X made a lot of noise at MWC last month and has been making waves round the web with videos and specs. The One X is certainly a good-looking phone and will be the cool kid on the block once it’s launched (rumored to be on June 10th).

There is also the possibility that we might be in for a surprise from HTC and Sprint and they’ll introduce the One X as Sprints first LTE phone. Theirs always a chance right?

HTC One Series – One X, One S, One V

HTC One Series – One X, One S, One V

HTC made it clear that this year they wanted to make fewer but better phones. In an attempt to reach that goal they announced the One Series. It will be a series of premium phones that offer excellent user experience by concentrating on what HTC believes makes a great phone: design, camera and sound. HTC has excelled in each of those categories before so it is not a question of if HTC can but if they can do it consistently. The first three phones of the One series will be the One X, One S, and One V. All three will run ICS,  have 25GB of Dropbox storage for two years and Beats Audio.

The One X will have a polycarbonate unibody in a 4.7-inch form factor with Corning Gorilla Glass and will run on a 1.5GHz NVIDA Tegra 3. Unfortunately, the LTE version will not have the quad-core Tegra 3 but  a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 instead. The One S will have the same S4 processor, a 4.3-inch Gorilla Glass screen, and will be 7.9-mm thin. Lastly, the One V will bring back the chin form factor of the HTC Legend and try to be a low-end phone with a premium experience. Availability is unknown right now but the One X will be on AT&T and the One S on T-Mobile.

More HTC Phones To Receive Ice Cream Sandwich

More HTC Phones To Receive Ice Cream Sandwich

Well it appears that HTC isn’t done reviewing and determining which devices will be receiving the update to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). Today they took to Facebook to announce some additional devices that will be updated to the latest version of Android. Last week they announced a group of devices that were going to be updated, and Motorola announced more devices of its own this week. As much as we like to see phone makers announcing that they will be updating their devices, we do wish they’d tell us when we’ll be getting the latest and greatest.

Todays news from HTC confirms that they will be updating the Rezound, the DROID Incredible 2, the HTC Thunderbolt and the HTC Rhyme. Also HTC will be updating the HTC Raider, for Rogers and Bell networks.

It’s nice to see HTC finally acknowledge the Thunderbolt especially considering it was the first 4G LTE phone for Verizon and a lot of people jumped on the opportunity to purchase it (cough cough, me) so knowing that it’s on the upgrade path is good news. Interesting to see the Rhyme on the list, mostly because it’s a funny purple phone marketed towards “women” the others on the list are pretty much straight forward.

So what do you think are you happy with the additions to the list? Is your device now on the list?

HTC Endeavor Specs Leak – Confirm Tegra 3 Processor

HTC Endeavor Specs Leak – Confirm Tegra 3 Processor

Over the weekend specs leaked from a ROM for the upcoming HTC Endeavor, which initially surfaced back in November. The Endeavor is poised to be HTC’s latest flagship phone and is speculated to be packing an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

The phone is rumored to have a 720p screen, 8 megapixel rear-camera, and 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. It includes Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 (no mention of NFC at this point). Software wise, we’re expecting Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0.

Should be a very enticing phone if these specs line up to be true, but no information regarding carrier / cell radio support could leave some people out in the cold. We’ll keep you posted as we get more information regarding this device and with MWC coming up we’re sure it won’t be long before we get more details.

HTC Announces Ice Cream Sandwich Roll-Out Beginning March

0
HTC Announces Ice Cream Sandwich Roll-Out Beginning March

HTC has finally moved the needle forward with their plans for Ice Cream Sandwich updates to their phones, with the first wave starting to hit in March. HTC initially came out and said (like most manufacturers) that they were reviewing their line-up of devices and would make determinations of which handsets would be receiving Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Since this initial announcement there hasn’t been much movement, until today. HTC officially announced the first wave of devices that would be receiving the update to ICS (along with updated Sense) and that they will be receiving the update in March!

The List:

  • Rezound (Verizon)
  • Vivid (AT&T)
  • Amaze 4G (T-Mobile)
  • EVO 3D (Sprint
  • EVO Design 4G (Sprint)
  • Incredible S
  • Desire S
  • Desire HD

As you can see there is a pretty good group of devices there, unfortunately it’s not a lot of devices. HTC has been pushing out handsets at a very rapid rate (something they plan on correcting moving forward) so they can’t focus on all their handsets and have them all updated at the same time. Unfortunately that means a lot of people who have HTC phones, like Verizons first 4G phone the Thunderbolt, aren’t on the list for ICS updates. This doesn’t mean that they won’t be updated to ICS, it just means that in March you won’t be receiving it and you’ll h ave to wait for more information to come from HTC as to when you’ll be updated (if you’re going to be updated).

How do you feel about this? Do you think there should be more devices on this list? Do you think that you got ripped of?

Nokia Lumia 900 Up For Pre-Order From The Microsoft Store For $25

That’s right the Nokia Lumia 900, that was recently released and still doesn’t have a confirmed launch  price, can now be pre-ordered via a Microsoft store. The LTE beast is is slated to launch on AT&T in march and will compete directly with the HTC Titan II. Unfortunately you need to live near a Microsoft store (which there aren’t many of) in order to take advantage of this deal. Luckily this is one step closer to the actual launch of the device!

HTC Titan II

AT&T’s LTE network may be nascent but that isn’t stopping them from giving those data speed demon customers options. HTC unveiled the Titan II, a WP7 Mango phone, that will run on the aforementioned LTE network. There isn’t a complete spec sheet yet but it looks like the Titan II will be very similar to the original Titan except that the former has a 16MP camera and a larger battery. Both have a 1.5GHz single-core Snapdragon processor and a Super LCD display. Remember when you bought a phone and its successor wasn’t announced in 4 months? The Titan II will be available “in the coming months”.

Tegra 3 Devices Announced and Rumored

Transformer Prime

Last week the Tegra 3 quad-core processor was announced and the first device to be powered by it, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. The Prime is a 10.1-inch tablet with a 1200 x 800 Super IPS+  Gorilla Glass display, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear-facing camera, 1.2 MP front-facing camera, and will run Honeycomb. Asus plans on upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich by the end of the year. The Prime has been considerably slimmed down from its predecessor to a mere 8.3mm thickness, which is just thinner than the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Prime starts at $499 for a 32GB model and $599 for the 64GB one. The keyboard dock will cost an extra $149. Availability will be early December.

Since rumors are more fun than official announcements, here is one for you. BGR is reporting to have details on one of the first Tegra 3 smartphones, the HTC Edge. They believe it will be a 4.7 inch screen with 1GB of RAM, 32GB storage, 8MP rear-facing camera, a 720p front-facing camera, Beats Audio, NFC all inside an 8.8mm unibody casing. The best feature could be the 720p HD S-LCD 2 with optical lamination – read crazy display quality. The HTC Edge may launch in March or April of next year and rumored to run Ice Cream Sandwich.
