16GB Galaxy Nexus And Droid Incredible 3 4G Release Dates Leaked

16GB Galaxy Nexus And Droid Incredible 3 4G Release Dates Leaked

More upcoming devices means more release date leaks and this time it comes in the form of a 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Droid Incredible 3 4G for Verizon in April. That’s right a lower capacity version of the Galaxy Nexus, the first 4.0 ICS Android phone, and a 4G version of the supremely successful Droid Incredible line coming to Verizon in April.

The upside to the lower capacity on the Galaxy Nexus means that it will most likely lower the price to the $199.99 (on a two-year contract) sweet spot for smartphones. The Droid Incredible line has been a big hit for Verizon and the phones themselves have been pretty darn good considering they all run Sense UI (sorry not a fan). All in all a 4G version of the Incredible with some updated specs would be a good play for HTC and Verizon.

We’ll keep you posted as we get more info.

Motorola Updates ICS Device List And Timing – Pisses More People Off

Motorola Updates ICS Device List And Timing – Pisses More People Off

Today Motorola has updated their blog and ICS page with new devices that will be receiving updates to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). On top of the already known devices like the XOOM and XYBoards Motorola will also be updated the Droid Bionic, the RAZR (entire line up) the Droid 4, the Photon 4G, the Atrix 4G, the Atrix 2 and the Electrify. All of this is great news especially if you recently purchased a RAZR or one of the just released Droid 4’s.

The bad news is their update schedule is very vague and very distant. We’re talking Q3 2012 for phones like the Atrix and the Photon. Some of the reason behind the really long timelines is carrier specific, especially when it comes to Verizon. Motorola and Google haven’t been able to updated the XOOM 3G/4G which is a GED (Google experience device) because of Verizons testing and restrictions. The Droid family from the Bionic on is all more than capable of running ICS, Google and Motorola know this and are pushing the devices as such, but with Verizon in the loop testing and reviewing all the software updates users have to wait to get an official build.

Things like this force users to root their devices just to get the latest software on their devices, which just makes for angry users and angry carriers. Hopefully Motorola & Verizon can work something out to expedite these timelines, for all our sakes.

PSA: Motorola DROID 4 Now Available From Verizon

PSA: Motorola DROID 4 Now Available From Verizon

Quick Friday morning PSA, the Motorola DROID 4 is now available from Verizon Wireless for $199.99 on a new two-year contract ($549.99 full retail). For those of you keeping score at home, this is Motorolas 4G LTE qwerty packing big brother to the DROID RAZR. It sports a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4″ qHD display, Gorilla Glass and water-repellent nanocoating.

If you’re in line for an update this is a solid choice especially if you’re one of those folks that hasn’t made the complete jump to full touch screen phones. Motorola has already said that this device will be updated to ICS so the fact that it comes out of the box with Android 2.3.5 shouldn’t scare you away. The only thing hat I don’t like about this is that they decided to go with the 1785 mAH battery instead of the larger 3300 mAH batter from the DROID RAZR MAXX, but they do still say you’ll get 12.5 hours of use out of this battery.

Droid RAZR MAXX Now Available From Verizon Wireless

0
Droid RAZR MAXX Now Available From Verizon Wireless

Today Verizon launched the Droid RAZR MAXX by Motorola, which amazingly means, that Verizon launched a device on time! The RAZR MAXX is the enhanced version of the initial Droid RAZR increasing specifically the battery from 1780mAH to 3300mAH and promising 21.5 hours of talk time. The increased batter size only increases the thickness of the device from 7.1mm to 8.99mm making it still a ridiculously thin device. The phone carries all of the same benefits of the original Droid RAZR including Gorilla Glass, Kevlar backing, water-repellent nano-coating and 8MP camera. Oddly now the regular Droid RAZR is available in three color choices but the RAZR MAXX is only available in black.

Motorola and Verizon are also touting this as the first 4G LTE phone to last all day and night, which has been one of the major complaints of recent smart phones especially with 4G LTE.  The phone will run you $299.99 on a new 2 year contract, and has cause the beginning of the end of life cycle for the initial Droid RAZR.

Verizon Set To Launch New 4G LTE Phone on Thursday Dec 15 – The White Droid RAZR

Verizon Set To Launch New 4G LTE Phone on Thursday Dec 15 – The White Droid RAZR

Much to the disappointment of many of our readers, Verizon has still yet to announce the availability of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which is anticipated to launch on December 15th. Instead they’ve decided to launch the White Droid RAZR on Thursday.

The White Droid RAZR follows in the footsteps of the original as far as specs and configuration goes it’s still 7.1mm thin and sporting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It still has Gorilla Glass® and water-resistant nano-coating. It’s still going to cost $299.99 on a new two-year contract. The only real difference is that it’s got white trim.

You can get a $100 discount on the phone if you purchase it alongside a Droid XYBoard, as Motorola has pointed out, it’s possible to get a tablet and a phone for less than what a certain other tablet costs. But it would mean you’re getting the 8.2″ version of the XYBoard, if that’s your sort of thing.

Verizon Shows Off New Motorola Xyboard LTE Tablet

0
Verizon Shows Off New Motorola Xyboard LTE Tablet

Well this isn’t unexpected all though we have been hoping that they would drop the “Xyboard” moniker which unfortunately hasn’t happened. According to multiple outlets Verizon is gearing up to release two different 4G LTE Android tablets from Motorola. The first is an eight-inch model and the second a ten-inch model and both are expected to land before the end of the year.

The tablets are both packing dual-core 1.2GHz chips, 1GB of RAM, 5 megapixel rear cameras and 1.3 megapixel front cameras. The tablets will be sporting Corning Gorilla Glass, and they’re rumored to be “thinner than a AAA batter and lighter than a paperback book.” Apparently the 10″ version also comes with a stylus, and is more targeted to enterprise users.

There is no mention of the OS running on these tablets just yet, we imagine that they’ll ship with Honeycomb and then be updated to ICS, but we could be surprised and they may have ICS at launch.

Spec wise these tablets are already coming into the game slightly outdated with the Asus Transformer Prime slated to launch this month with the Tegra3 Quad-core processor, we can’t help but wonder why Motorola didn’t opt to go with a Quad-core option for their second round of tablets. It appears as though Motorola has been having a hard time keeping up with the advancements in technology, considering that most of their phones (outside of the Droid RAZR) have come out with specs that were top of the line 6 months before they launched, and are second tier by the time they launch. Either Motorola needs to speed up their launch process or  they have to design and build they’re devices to be more flexible when it comes to hardware. They could always make they’re products less expensive and then customers wouldn’t mind that their specs are a bit behind the industry leaders but you can’t charge high-end prices and deliver less than high-end specs.
