PLayStation Vita may be worth the re look.

PS-Vita-007It’s been a minute since i wrote a review but life has a way of giving you curve balls. In my down town i traded in my old PSPgo and got my hands on a PlayStation Vita. With the dwindling Vita market i found the system a cheap buy. As fun as it is to play with a touch screen system its what this has in store for it that makes me exited.

I first got the PS Vita to play one of my cult favorites, Disgaea 3, and was waiting with baited breath for the release of Persona 4 Golden. After beating Disgaea and killing a lovely 110 hours on Persona 4 to get the true ending I truly felt it was the end of my Vita playing days. To my joy despite Sony saying they had no plans to port PS2 games to the vita i find out that Sony announced it was going to release Final Fantasy X HD for PS3 and possibly Vita. This would be the second PS2 re-release for VITA. I Hope they keep up the trend and please the rest of the fanboys including myself.

I can’t wait for the US release of Final Fantasy Type-0. The series has yet to truly let me down. With in depth character development and interesting living and boss mechanics, and stories that are award worthy Square Soft has always been in my eyes the master of RPGs.One of the best parts of PSP/Vita in general is being able to play great PS1 tittles. Hopefully they continue with great PS2 tittles.

The only thing that has put me off has been the price of games. Despite the nice graphics and touch capacity in all we normally see a almost shortened version of major titles. With Assassins creeds release on PS3 a almost abridged version to the real game was given to the Vita. Despite being a fun game to play it just didn’t have the depth and strength of the main tittle but still carried a $50 price tag. These games need to be cheaper to keep me coming back for more.

Due to lack of popular titles or just the passing of time I was able to pick up a Vita used with a 8gig card for just $150. Well worth the buy for the hours of portable entertainment. If your a fan of PS2 tittles or just want a high quality gaming handheld i would strongly suggest taking another look at the PS Vita.

Konami and its Silent Hill

0

Just yesterday I went to see Silent Hill Revelations and thought to myself “oh how the mighty have fallen!” The Silent Hill series was one off the scariest game series to date but somehow has fallen from grace. With a slew of bad tittles and even worse movies will they ever recover the title they fought so hard to earn?

In 1999 the first Silent Hill debut on the PS1 one and was considered the best for its plot twist, disturbing scenes, and oh so great sound design. Hitting you with truly immersive environment that made even the veteran of survivor horror game players jump with fear. Unlike your typical servitor horror which involved you going through tons of ammo and killing your way to the end, Silent Hill took on more of visual novel feel. The game put emphasis on puzzles and few story with a small group of enemies to keep the action going. One of the few games that you could go almost the whole game without killing with the, exception of the bosses, and beat the game. A masterpiece in its own right the only thing that held this game back was the hardware; enter Silent Hill 2 on the PS2. Silent Hill 2 was considered the best in the series. The bumped up graphics completed the package and created stunning visuals which made the blood and gore even more realistic and disturbing to the viewer.

The new Apple Ear Pods

I’m that last one to give Apple any props but when the iPhone 5 came out being a hardcore android user I had little interest. One of the accessories that caught my attention was the new Apple Ear Pods. Being an IPod owner I was curious if they we worth Apple giving them their own commercial. To my surprise I was very impressed by not only the quality of sound but the comfort and best of all is the low price.

Star Wars The Old Republic soon Free to Play!

2

For those of us who know how addictive a good MMO can be have a new drug on the market. Star Wars the Old Republic was a great Massive Multiplayer Online that carried a $60 price tag for the game and a monthly subscription of $15 a month. It happens that most of the best MMO’s carry a price tag, look at EVE. Not wanting to add a new monthly bill to my life I personally never got around to playing it, but thanks to the gaming gods, come November the game will be free semi to play. Allowing people to play the game for free and pay fee for premium content and gear.

Review: Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Review: Windows 8 Consumer Preview

One night I was enjoying the many paint programs on my tablet pc, because that’s what they were built for, and it dawned on me that Windows 8 was long overdue for a release. After trolling the Microsoft sites and forums I was greeted with a pleasant surprise, the “Consumer Preview” of Windows 8 was available for download at the Microsoft website.  But despite my fears I had a tablet that I really didn’t care about and decided to test the new operating just say I did and play with the new paint programs.
