With the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Black Ops II most people are brushing up on their Call of Duty skills, so some good news from Activision is in order. They’ve announced today that they are extending Call of Duty Elite Premium features through March 1, 2013 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

As much as this is a nice little perk for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 players, it’s an interesting extension to happen. Activision had announced previously that they will be expanding all of the features from the Call of Duty Elite program to all players in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 for free. Obviously they’ve removed the map packs and bonus downloads from the Elite program and those are now included in the “Season Pass” but users now have full access to clans and challenges without having to pay for the Elite Premium service. The question is what does this extension mean for Modern Warfare 3 gamers, and is there any benefit to it that we don’t know about yet.

We’ll keep you posted.
