I’m a gamer, and I’m also an achievement hunter, I hate having a game that I don’t have all the achievements for (although I have quite a few) and now Microsoft is finally going to reward me (and you) for the hours put in to get those achievements.

It’s been something that has been thought about for a long time now and Microsoft is finally putting the wheels in motion, hopefully this is just the beginning of good things to come for achievement hungry gamers out there. Microsoft has launched the MyAchievements portal for Xbox LIVE. This portal rewards Gold Xbox LIVE members for the achievements that they’ve amassed. At this point in time there are three tiers CONTENDER, CHAMPION OR LEGEND. Each with a different Achievement requirement and each with a different reward.

For CONTENDER players with 3000 – 9,999 Achievement points are given a “Special Gift” during their birthday month. There is no mention of what that might be but we’re going to go with the popular vote of an Avatar item.

For CHAMPION players with 10,000 – 24,999 Achievement points are given a 1% rebate on Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchases every month, along with the “Special Gift” during your birthday month.

For LEGEND players with 25,000 + Achievement points are given a 2% rebate on Xbox LIVE Marketplace purchase every month, along with the “Special Gift” during your birthday month.

The current offer phase stated yesterday (September 27th) and runs through June 30, 2013. So there is the possibility that there will be different phases and different offers depending on how well this is received and what feedback Microsoft gets.

Like most Microsoft Xbox LIVE initiatives this one will most certainly be shaped by the community and it’s feedback so let Microsoft know what you think and what you want them to do with the MyAchievements program!
