Microsoft has made it clear that Xbox LIVE is now their cross-platform gaming environment, and now they’ve announced the first batch of games for Xbox LIVE coming to Windows 8.

Xbox is announcing support from Microsoft Studios (duh), Rovio, Miniclip, Gameloft, ZeptoLab, Glu Mobile, Halfbrick Studios and others for Xbox games on Windows 8.

The first Wave of games is listed below, and many of them will be available on October 26th, the launch of the Windows 8. Xbox LIVE Games for Windows 8 will also support Xbox Achievements, and many will take advantage of other Xbox features, including leaderboards, multiplayer and friend connection. No word yet on if Achievements will be cross-platform, or if game progression will be cross-platform, but with SkyDrive, and the ability to save games to the cloud, we imagine that even if it’s not available at launch, it’s in the works.
