One of the quieter items discussed at yesterdays 2012 CES Keynote delivered by Steve Ballmer, is that Microsoft re-affirmed their intentions to bring additional TV service providers to the Xbox 360 platform. Microsoft already has AT&T U-Verse and Verizon Fios (in the U.S) along with Telus and Telefonica on board providing TV content through the Xbox 360. Microsoft announced previously additional partners would be bringing service to the Xbox, including Comcast’s Xfinity TV service but to date there has been no movement on that front. Yesterday Microsoft said that Comcast’s Xfinity TV service “will soon be coming to Xbox 360”, which doesn’t really give us a timeline but at least reminds us all that it is coming. They also announced a partnership with News Corp. that will bring Fox News, Wall Street Journal, Fox and IGN content to the Xbox 360.
Hopefully we’ll get more information soon regarding the big WHEN, so we’ll keep you posted.
